Recognized as one of the major trumpet players of his generation, Fabien Mary is a key figure in French jazz. He is also a composer and arranger, as evidenced by his Left Arm Blues octet record and, more recently, the album Too Short written for the Vintage Orchestra.
Precise and inspired improviser, it is at the head of a quartet that we find him most often, a perfect formula to highlight his qualities as a soloist, through a repertoire mixing originals and compositions of musicians such as Joe Henderson, Cedar Walton, Freddie Hubbard or Kenny Dorham.
For this concert, he invites the New York saxophonist Frank Basile with whom he has been collaborating for the past fifteen years. Frank Basile is one of the specialists of the baritone sax. He has played with the Vanguard Jazz Orchestra, Jimmy Heath Big Band, Dizzy Gilespie All-Star Big Band, Bob Mintzer Big Band, Joe Lovano Nonet, Michael Bublé, Christian McBride Big Band, Dave Holland Big Band.
Frank Basile: baritone saxophone
Laurent Marode: organ
