On March 26, 1996, the trio of Cuban bandleader Juan de Marcos González, American producer and guitarist Ry Cooder, and British producer and label owner Nick Gold gathered an impromptu group of Cuban musicians at Egrem/Areito Studios in Centro Havana. The majority of those gathered were famous veterans of the golden age of the Cuban music scene of the 1940s and 1950s. None of them had any idea that the recordings they were about to produce would change the lives of many people, including their own, and that they would forever change the status of Cuban music in the world. Buena Vista Social Club is the name given to this extraordinary group of musicians and to the album, recorded in only seven days. A global phenomenon, Grammy-winning in 1997 and selling millions of copies, the impact of these sessions is still felt 25 years later, and the vibrancy and allure of Cuba's rich history and culture shines through more than ever in these historic recordings. Caloé is above all, a voice recognizable from the first notes, a freshness, a spontaneity, a lively spirit, a love of play and freedom! She sings jazz, improvises, interprets music from different cultures and writes music and words. A fervent admirer of Ella Fitzgerald, she studied "scat" with precision and technique to master it in her own way. Always surrounded by excellent musicians, she performs in France and abroad and hosts a refreshing and exciting jam one Sunday a month at the club.
