After a first project as a leader between 2014 and 2018, Clément Dodray gathered around him, for his new quintet, musicians of various ages and backgrounds that he likes: Sébastien Paindestre on piano, Marc Roger on trombone, Marion Ruault on double bass and Julien Roger on drums. In his work as a composer, he draws as well from the source of post-bop jazz of the 60s (masters such as Joe Henderson, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter) as from their more current successors (Kenny Garrett, Plume). Added to this are modern groove and Caribbean touches, with harmonic colors and asymmetrical measures inspired by musicians such as Jacques Schwarz-Bart, Kurt Rosenwinkel or Céline Bonacina. Their first album has been recorded and is scheduled for release in 2023.
