Bassist Basile Rahola, recently arrived in Belgium, presents his new quartet with three outstanding musicians from the Belgian and French jazz scene. Pierre Hurty, an eclectic French drummer based in Brussels and Paris. Baptiste Stanek, a young and promising French saxophonist active between Paris and Basel, and Wajdi Riahi, his long-time sidekick, a particularly creative Tunisian pianist on both the Belgian and Tunisian scene.
For this project, Basile has created a brand new repertoire, inspired by feelings experienced over the last few years, both from a personal and human point of view, but also from past encounters and travels. This quartet proposes a jazz that pushes the dynamics to the extreme, bringing an imposing panel of nuances, while keeping the sincerity and spontaneity of the musical discourse as the main purpose. These four musicians who have just recorded their first album on the prestigious Fresh Sound New Talent label, in which two distinguished guests are present (Octavio Hernández and Claudio Jr. De Rosa) will present us the content of this promising opus during this concert.
