ARRoYo takes its name from the small streams that flow down the peaks, filling up over the seasons before curling up in the hollows of the forests or burning under the fires of the deserts.
(It refers to Edward Abbey, one of the major literary figures of the 20th century American counterculture and ecological awareness).
Navigating from compositions to improvised music, the group is the fruit of a long complicity between Jérôme Mathevon, Olivier Pinto and David Carniel; and of an aspiration to carry together a common aesthetic between contemporary jazz, folk-rock and poetry.
The band's geometry varies according to their encounters and inspirations. For their first album, The Land Behind Us, they were joined by Gaya Feldheim-Schorr (vocals), Andrew Sudhibasilp (guitar) and Henri Fernandez (voice).

Jérôme Mathevon: piano
Olivier Pinto: double bass
David Carniel: drums
