A few months after producing the highly acclaimed Two Roses - which he himself says was the project of a lifetime - the Israeli musician returns to the forefront with a dazzling trio. Firmly established on the international contemporary jazz scene, Avishai Cohen once again confirms his indisputable talent. His encounter with Elchin Shirinov on piano and Roni Kaspi, a young drummer prodigy, reveals a charming alchemy whose elegance is instantly recognisable. The album Shifting Sands was recorded in August 2021 on the Naïve label. On subtle and colourful rhythms, the trio deploys its virtuosity with a communicative energy, under the leadership of Avishai Cohen who knows how to bring his two acolytes to light.
