Released in 2005, "Noctiflore", the project of the Danish saxophonist Simon Spang-Hanssen, rises from its ashes for a unique evening at the Baiser Salé! Asymmetrical patterns, harmonic explorations, predominant rhythmic pulsations, open improvisations, omnipresent swing... The joyful freedom of this musical project includes a transgression of borders, a joyful way of transcending jazz styles and academisms.

The saxophonist has collaborated with John Tchicai, Nguyen Lê, Andy Emler, Denis Badault, Richard Bona, Billy Hart. This time he leads a high-level quartet that highlights musicians from the European jazz scene:
Franck Tortiller, renowned vibraphonist, also brilliant Director of the Orchestre National de Jazz from 2005 to 2008. He was also a member of the Vienna Art Orchestra and Claude Barthélémy's Quintet among others...
François Laizeau, drummer that we had the pleasure to hear in many formations, from Magma to the ONJ (Denis Dadault and Didier Levallet), from Emmanuel Bex to Michel Legrand, from Francois Couturier to Eddy Louis ...
Yves Torchinsky, double bass player with a powerful groove, long-time member of the Double Bass Orchestra.

"Simon Spang-Hanssen reminds us of Johnny Griffin for his velocity and impatience, Dexter Gordon for a kind of half-hearted nonchalance, which is immediately contradicted by his George Adams side (a certain way of transgressing references through lyricism and excess)." Franck Bergerot - Jazz Hot
