Ground Spirit

Ground Spirit is a quintet created in 2022 by young musicians from the CNSM, with varied backgrounds (Berklee, Brussels, Stuttgart...) wanting to share their love of modern standards.
It is composed of Yonatan Hes on alto saxophone, Theo Altmann on trumpet, Loan Buathier on guitar, Gabriel Sauzay on double bass and Loup Godfroy on drums.
From Sam Rivers to Ornette Coleman, via Joe Henderson and Thelonious Monk, they explore the effervescence of the compositions of these jazz giants, offering a frenetic music that seeks to renew a repertoire of iconic jazz pieces from the 50s and 60s.
