In 1989, Russian pianist Arkadyi Figlin, who lives in Moscow at the time, wins the 3rd prize of the very first International Martial Solal Piano Competition in Paris. The unforgettable musical exchange occurring between him and the Moutin brothers, who are comping all candidates in this occasion, strikes these three exceptional artists’ spirits and is the genesis of their regrouping late 2021. Meanwhile, Arkadiy settles in New York as early as 1991 and performs profusely within the world of classical music as the soloist of multiple symphonic orchestras, interpreting piano concertos by Prokofiev, Gershwin, Emerson, or Rachmaninov. Simultaneously, he composes or co-composes scores for the New York City Ballet and the Lincoln Center Theater, such as « Ten in Seven » by Peter Walker. Jazz, however, remains at the core of his music. After winning in 1998 the first prize of the «Great American Jazz Piano Competition », he starts touring internationally in numerous jazz festivals such as Tallin (Estonia), Tbilisi (Georgia), Baku (Azerbaijan), Ivrea (Italy), Jacksonville (USA), Pori (Finland). In December 2021, then again in November 2022, Arkadiy Figlin, François Moutin et Louis Moutin reunite in New York City to record successively « Father’s Day » then « Lake of Dreams » two superb albums of Arkadiy’s compositions.
