Nico Morelli Trio Meet Italy

A concert based on an original concept and full of energy. The repertoire is made up of a fusion of jazz, classical music and folk music from southern Italy. With bassist Matis Regnault and drummer Karl Jannuska, the trio, led by pianist Nico Morelli, combines the harmonies of early 20th century French composers with virtuoso melodies and solos inspired by the masters of Afro-American jazz. American. Supported by a sophisticated and efficient rhythm section, Nico Morelli's compositions transport the listener to a lyrical place steeped in the colors of southern Italy. Nico Morelli graduated from the Taranto Conservatory and took advanced classical piano lessons in Rome with Aldo Ciccolini. He majored in the study of jazz at Siena Jazz Schools, Berklee College of Music, Manhattan School of Music. He has collaborated with big names in Jazz like Aldo Romano, Marc Johnson, Greg Hutchinson, Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava. Since 1998 he has resided in Paris.
