Pétrole was born of a meeting between 4 musicians with similar artistic inspirations, centered around compositional ideas based on rhythmic cycles, polyrhythms, micro-tonality, repetitive music and a desire to make acoustic and electronic music coexist organically. To achieve this, the compositions of the 4 members of the group draw their inspiration from a varied spectrum of influences, ranging from Steve Coleman and Henry Threadgill to Olivier Messiaen and Javanese gamelan.

Clément Merienne stands out for his constant quest for openness and his willingness to break down stylistic barriers, notably through the use of prepared piano and electronic music. He draws inspiration from renowned musicians such as Benoit Delbecq, Fred Hersch and the group Octurn, and also explores Indian, Gnawa and Bulgarian sounds... Dive into Clément Merienne's exciting universe and let yourself be transported by his creativity and musical talent!

Created in 2012, the #JazzDeDemain slot has given rise to a series of bimonthly residencies enabling young artists to experiment on stage, honing a repertoire, while presenting it to the public. A promising niche where creativity and emulsion know no bounds. #BeCurious!
