Exeko

In their latest show, the a cappella vocal sextet EXEKO play tribute to Bernard Lavilliers, the veteran French singer-songwriter. The whole programme is written by Antoine Delprat, whose sophisticated yet unfussy arrangements make the most of the group’s long-standing complicity, vocal range and depth and familiarity with the world of jazz improvisation. Whilst revisiting Lavilliers spicy rhythms in a radically different approach, the new version preserves and underlines the enduring relevance of the activist lyrics to an increasingly discriminatory society.
