Jowee Omicil Bwa Kayiman Freedom Suite

Canada, France
Jowee Omicil invokes his Haitian roots with a project dedicated to the secret voodoo ceremony of Bwa Kayiman, on Haiti's north coast, on the night of August 13-14, 1791, the founding act of the uprising that would lead to independence. By connecting with the spirit of his deported ancestors, the saxophonist touches the vibrant heart of music: the power to heal souls through notes, and the ability to liberate emancipatory energies. Surrounded on record and on stage by a team in tune with his intentions, such as Guadeloupeans Arnaud Dolmen and Jonathan Jurion, the saxophonist has created a veritable healing ritual in which a gentle wind of revolution blows in the wake of the most emancipated jazzmen. It's sure to leave a lasting impression.
