As its name suggests, “Living Organs” is an album bursting with life, a breathtakingly modern jazz session that seems to revel in the fact that what we call “tradition” can be made up of routes as diverse as they are itinerant, of paths as richly shaped as they are multiple. Hailed by JazzTimes for his “agility and clear, bright, powerful sound”, saxophonist and composer Shauli Einav is a multi-faceted musician whose art is rooted in a quest for truth. This philosophy has guided him throughout an audacious career, marked by collaborations with major jazz figures such as Aaron Goldberg, David Liebman, Gilad Hekselman, Avishai Cohen, Johnathan Blake, Shai Maestro and Tigran Hamasyan, among others. Born in rural Israel, Einav studied in New York before spending several years on the Paris jazz scene, before settling in Luxembourg. As All About Jazz points out, “Shauli Einav is a remarkably accomplished musician, a virtuoso soloist with a lush sound on both soprano and tenor, whose compositions are bold and profound.” These aspects, driven by his profound quest to express an ever-evolving personal truth, make Einav one of the most captivating and exploratory saxophonists in jazz today.
