“Without opposites there is no progression.”
In a well-ordered world, there are places where we are free to embrace contradiction, to wander between the innocence of childhood wonder and the sorrows that mark the path of all life. Driven by a doctrine of opposites, William Blake's “Songs of Innocence and of Experience” highlights these opposites essential to human nature in two series of poems, mirrors of joy and darkness. The SuperGreen repertoire explores musical opposites with a great refusal to choose: written/improvised, acoustic/electronic, song/instrumental music, everything is deliberately placed between two chairs.
“The important thing is not in the cycles, but in the opposition”, and the quartet takes pleasure in treating dualities as contrasts proper to the soul, like a musical incursion into the ambivalence of the psyche.”
Paco Andreo: trombone, euphonium, vocals
Clément Merienne: piano, synthesizer
Samuel Ber: drums
