A Franco-Belgian quintet, Synestet appeals to the senses, expressing, playing and improvising; the perception of music becomes a blend of colors, smells, shapes and textures. Five musicians, crazy about improvisation and thirsty for play and musical expression, thread their way between the lines to form a homogeneous, improvised sound bubble. Initiated by clarinettist Hélène Duret, this unprecedented encounter offers open music that advocates simplicity and inventiveness. A cross between Ornette Coleman, Jimmy Giuffre, Duke Ellington, Jakob Bro and Timber Timbre.

Hélène Duret
Hélène Duret is a French clarinettist, improviser and composer, born in Orange in 1988. She has also worked in theater, film and dance.
Hélène Duret currently focuses her artistic activity on musical composition, which she links to the exploration of improvisation, whether instrumental or sung, and the perception of sound as a palpable texture, thick, thin, complex, smooth or colored. To achieve this, she draws on the sensations of painting and visual art.
Straddling the border between Belgium and France since 2013, Hélène Duret develops her unifying spirit through her many encounters, bringing together artists from diverse backgrounds, all driven by the same creative energy, from which a rich palette of projects will emerge.
In 2021/2022, Hélène Duret is Laureate Jazz Migration #7 with her trio Suzanne, joins Tricollectif with her trio FUR, releases the second album of her quintet Synestet with the Belgian label Igloo records and enters into residency at the Cité internationale des arts where she develops her musical creations and turns to water as her main source of inspiration.

Hélène Duret: clarinet, bass clarinet
Sylvain Debaisieux: tenor saxophone
Benjamin Sauzereau: electric guitar
