Between nostalgic melancholy and colorful avant-garde, crushing hierarchy and the desire for individual emancipation, enchanting nature and delirious urbanity, Japan is a country full of contrasts and contradictions. It is this country that inspires the repertoire of MEJIRO, a sextet named after a small endemic Japanese sparrow with a jerky but melodious song, but also after a district of Tokyo. Japan, through the prism of intimacy. Among his inspirations are Joe Hisaishi (Hayao Miyazaki's composer), as well as Björk, Bartok, Ravel, the Danish String Quartet, the Punch Brothers, Becca Stevens... Between jazz, chamber music and folk, a style full of contrasts and poetry.
