What an exceptional career for Kareen Guiock Thuram! In 2023, she was voted revelation by Jazz Magazine and Jazz News, and the top French artist in TSF Jazz's top 10 albums of the year by Jazz Radio. "I'm deeply grateful to the jazz world for welcoming me like this. It's been wonderful. Thank you." After more than 10 years at the helm of 12.45 on M6, in 2023 she released her first album NINA, a tribute to the great Nina Simone, and that same year took the helm of 66 Minutes and 66 Minutes Grand Format, still on M6. A life punctuated by his two lifelong passions: music and journalism.
But this is not a celebrity album. On the contrary: with this tribute to Nina Simone, what Kareen Guiock Thuram sings is perhaps the most secret and intimate part of her career. The essential thing was to respect Nina Simone's authenticity, elegance and emotional precision, her refusal of effects and aesthetics. No showboating, a rigorous jazz band and Kareen's matt, limpid, sincere, happy voice.
