Benjamin Colin Quartet

“Life vest under your seat” is a project created in 2023 by drummer and producer Benjamin COLIN. A classically trained musician, he first accompanied various artists (Yan Vagh, Théodore Paul et Gabriel, Aïtone...) before being introduced to jazz composition by Sébastien Jarrousse in 2021. Surrounded by François Poitou (bass), Hamza Touré (saxophone) and Michel Gagliolo (piano and synthesizers), he is influenced by the English jazz scene (Yussef Dayes, Shabaka Hutchings), but also by contemporary music (use of Messiaen's modes) and electronic music (Tim hecker, Autechre).

While jazz remains the common thread running through the project, Life vest under your seat also makes forays into avant-garde music.
