Every Sunday and Monday, the Rhumerie invites you to a jazz/live music evening with Alex Swing Events, thus reviving the tradition of the district from the fifties, and offers a selection of rums and West Indian gastronomy (surcharge +1€ per drink on concert days).

Scottish-American Ali is a stalwart of vocal-centric ‘old time’ jazz and blues.

Arriving in Edinburgh fresh from her old home in New Orleans, Ali found a Scotland where no-one under the age of 60 was singing old jazz and ‘classic’ blues repertoire…fast forward 12 years and she earned her place as doyenne of the scene. Ali performs year round at jazz festivals and swing dance events such as Ascona, hot jubilee has. Fest and the French Quarter Festival. 
Her regular trips back to the USA to perform have given such accolades as: ‘The spirit of Bessie Smith in the 21st century’- LA Times and “Scotland’s Queen of Vintage jazz & Blues “(OCWeekly)

With her Parisian all-star team, she founded the group Soucy Lil Devils Quartet, with which she travels between Edinburgh and Paris.
