Charlotte Isenmann Quintet is the result of a meeting between five musicians from the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique de Paris. The project, created in 2022 by Charlotte Isenmann, the group's flutist, began as a quartet, with Vladimir Sekula on piano, Gabriel Sauzay on double bass and Emilian Ducret on drums. Inspired by the world of modern and free jazz, and by musicians on the current jazz scene such as Kurt Rosenwinkel, Immanuel Wilkins, Aaron Parks and Ben Wendel, the four musicians play a repertoire ranging from personal compositions and jazz standards to free jazz and modern repertoire.
In 2024, after several concerts as a quartet, Charlotte Isenmann decided to expand the group and add clarinettist Lucien Lacquement. Gradually, the group's aesthetic took shape, with the desire to find a more personal expression.
The result is music with a wide range of emotions, borrowing from jazz and classical, and constantly evolving.
Lucien Lacquement: clarinet
Vladimir Sekula: piano
Gabriel Sauzay: double bass
Emilian Ducret: drums
