"Grecofuturism" is the project initiated by Monika Kabasele, a young Greek Congolese singer. She will collaborate with the virtuoso pianist Dexter Goldberg, as well as three remarkable musicians, Cyril Drapé on double bass, Hugo Corbin on guitar and Arnaud Dolmen on drums; which give sound reality to the project. The objective of this project is to create a multicultural sound: Congolese rumba, samba and bossa nova mingle with Greek rhythms, melodies and lyrics and the pieces played are influenced by the language and forms of jazz. Jazz music lends itself to this in its nature as a bridge between traditions. The repertoire is a mix between the Greek tradition and the Congolese tradition, a mix that is actually put together through jazz. Inspired by the term "Afrofuturism" the name of this project describes the search for connections between African roots and Greek roots. The goal is to develop an artistic personality that presents itself in the future and enters into dialogue with new technologies and futuristic jazz, with an open mind to mixed music and new identities.
