A luxury replacement, Thierry Fanfant plays François Constantin this evening in the company of such big names as there are few!! Drawing its sources from the Creole music of New Orleans and various Cuban music, Latin jazz takes on a wide variety of musical forms, often danceable. In the south of the United States as in the West Indies, musical exchanges are facilitated by the mixing of populations. The Cuban “sound”, but also the dances, habanera and danzón, which appeared at the beginning of the 19th century, contaminate the New Orleans style. The 1960s and 1970s opened new musical horizons by incorporating Brazilian music. On the rock side, Carlos Santana covers Evil Ways by Willie Bobo and Oyé Como Va by Tito Puente, while jazz rock incorporates Latin colors, with for example the pianist Chick Corea or the group Weather Report by Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter and Jaco Pastorius.
