Yaron Herman’s career is unique, to say the least. Determined to become a professional basketball player, he was forced at the age of 16 to put an end to his dream following an accident. He then set off to study the piano and, at age 21, he released his first album. In 2008, he was awarded a Victoire du Jazz and has had a thriving career ever since, which has led him to perform all over the world. To celebrate the release of his newest opus “Songs of the Degrees”, recorded as a trio with Blue Note, he has come to talk to us about improvisation, learning, philosophy, byt also basketball and… “the recipe for hummus”.
