New York at the dawn of the 1960s. It was the end of the reign for the mambo. In its permanent quest for new trends, the public succumbs to new sirens. Boogaloo exploded, a cross between rhythm and blues and Latin rhythms, sung in English and above all much easier to dance to. Latin soul made a bang bang on the dance floors and brought audiences together. The big bands, led by Machito, Tito Puente and Tito Rodríguez, were about to bow out, and with them the legendary dance hall Le Paladium. Afro-Cuban jazz is now Latin.
