Recorded at Sextan studio in December 2020 under the benevolent gaze of François Jeanneau, artistic director of the project, this new album offers us a journey rich in the many musical influences that animate this trio of musicians: jazz tradition and their love for Anglo-Saxon pop.

The album is at the crossroads of several aesthetics. First, there is tradition: the three musicians crossed paths with those who changed the history of jazz. Gary Brunton studied with Gary Peacock, Ray Brown, Dave Holland; one of his first memories in Paris, when he was twenty, remains his concerts with Michel Grailler, who had shared the chord grid of «How Deep Is The Ocean» that he played with Chet Baker. Bojan Z worked with Henri Texier, Michel Portal Michel Portal and Simon Goubert performed with Steve Grossman, René Urtregger, Alain Jean-Marie, Lee Konitz, Steve Potts, Biréli Lagrène. From these experiences comes an authentic jazz sound, an complicit and mischievous energy. In this opus, the trio also shares their love for rock and pop Anglosaxonne. Simon Goubert played with Magma for a long time and all three grew up with the music of the Beatles, the Stones and David Bowie. The latter, who disappeared just five years ago, has always influenced Gary Brunton by his personality, his great musical overture and his constant changes of style. On the other hand, it was confronted with new ropes, made of steel-spun hose, reminiscent of those with a woody sound of the 50s-60s. He owes them to Berlin craftsman Gerold Genssler, renowned for working with Steve Swallow, Charlie Haden and Larry Grenadier. A search for sound cohesion, listening and reaction to three, creativity and spontaneity remaining the key words during the creation of this opus. A promise kept, bringing this new album closer to virtuosity.
