Tonight, Alex Swing Events presents this instantly recognizable sounding alto saxophonist, Dmitry Baevsky and his quartet. Dmitry was born in St. Petersburg, Russia, before becoming an integral member of the New York jazz scene. With a dark and warm timbre, a formidable technique, an obvious sense of "drive" and risk-taking, he is one of the most prominent saxophonists today. Dmitry arrived in New York at the age of 19 attending New School University and has since shared the stage or recorded with musicians such as Cedar Walton, Jimmy Cobb, Benny Green, Peter Bernstein... this quartet, and through a repertoire imbued with class, lyricism and fiery inspiration, from Monk to Jobim, from Duke to Cedar Walton, and even his own compositions, Dmitry proves at each concert that he is one of the most exciting saxophonists on the jazz scene today.
