TA'AM, an initiatory sound story, where electrified oud and Jewish and Arab melodies tell the present of shared lands.
Ta'am, here and for the first time in its concert version, is the meeting of two worlds, the musical one of musician and composer Abderraouf Ouertani who chooses here to electrify his oud, and the writing and singing of choreographer and singer Jessica Bonamy. Created for the eponymous choreographic show, the two artists choose here to extract the music and to carry this sound story outside the theaters to give pride of place to sound. A music that tells shared melodies, interweaving millenary traditions with the present, with a taste for orality, the porosity between the sacred and the profane, the renewal in the repetition and a sensuality of the ornament.
To beat the measure as one would beat the earth, to let the sound vibrate in order to allow its flow; to work at each scale to draw, dig, and dilute the timbres; to unite them and then break them in order to better release their perfume; to confuse the Hebrew ritual with the poetry it carries and to listen to its echo; To make resonate in mirror the effluvia of an Arabic music revisited by the electrified strings of an oud with the rock allure; and to let co-exist the under pulsations of parallel cultures feeding from the same fires. It is perhaps all that Ta'am.
