EMICIDA (Brazil)

It's a story of adjusted rhythms and sharpened rhymes. It's the story of Emicida - a contraction of MC and Homicida, as the teenager used to "kill" his rivals on the mic - a rapper trained in São Paulo in the purest tradition of battles, who has become one of the most respected personalities in the Brazilian public space. Behind the evils he falls to the microphone reveals a harsh social reality, that this activist intends to point out by making himself the voice of those who never have access to the podiums. But, rather than sinking into a black and white caricature, Emicida becomes the singer of tolerance, transforming the eruptions of anger that lurk at the corner of the lips into messages of love, and combining rap and samba to bring together all the voices of Brazil towards a more enchanting tomorrow.
