Opening of the 17th edition of the Caribéennes de Mai with Celia Wa, the rising star from Guadeloupe!

Célia Wa develops her musical universe by combining her voice, the notes of her flute, ancestral Afro-descendant sounds combined with aerial, mystical and electronic atmospheres... What a program!

In her various EPs and her latest project Wastral (Heavenly Sweetness), the singer and musician takes the various Afro-descendant musical genres into another space-time, where the traditions of Ka drumming, committed soul, jazz and digital beats become one.

"Pan-African music and ideas have found in Celia Wa a humble, sincere and visionary ambassador. Mathieu Girod Radio NOVA

Born in Paris but having grown up in Guadeloupe, Celia started playing music with the "Ka" (traditional West Indian percussion) at the school of the great George Troupé, and then devoted herself to the flute. She made her first stage at the age of 12 and never left it.
Back in Paris, she immersed herself in hip-hop culture, especially dance, which became her profession before she decided to return to music and released two EPs mixing electronic music and traditional West Indian music. Born in the acoustic, sublimated by the production of Victor Vagh. Dub, the organic and electronic music blends perfectly with Celia's flute.
