L'Autour

The place of melody is essential, central. The musicians who made jazz have reappropriated the popular songs of the Broadway musical. The French song has always accompanied me, since childhood, so it seemed obvious to me to use this repertoire as a source of inspiration, to succeed in integrating in different ways (melodic, harmonic, rhythmic) this material in the aesthetics of the group, almost as if I had composed the piece. I wish to maintain and enrich this strong link with the song by seeking new inspirations in other cultures, other languages. I conceive music as an enveloping, organic sound material, around us, making this around an entity. The "autour" is also a bird and illustrates the idea of a music which wants to be aerial.
