Denis Uhalde, pianist, accomplished jazz musician and composer of visual music, and Léo Jeannet, trumpeter, composer-leader-arranger (notably for Panoramic Project), formed this group. They offer us a veritable voyage of rich influences, where the apparent melodic obviousness conceals a subtle and profound harmony, and a rhythmic intensity that immediately takes us to the heart of a very personal world, through the leader's original compositions.
With decades of piano in his fingers, hundreds of pieces written for the documentary film, and dozens of journeys and landscapes in his head, Denis offers a mature music, fully centered on his identity... He is particularly adept at surrounding himself with brilliant musicians of the new generation, committed, versatile and honest... Quentin Rondreux on drums and Hugo Rivière on double bass. Lead vocals are provided most of the time by Léo Jeannet's flugelhorn or trumpet, or shared with the piano... The osmosis between the four members of the quartet is immediately striking: it's complete, fluid and powerful... A melodic hook, an introduction or a riff always makes us want to know more, to go a little further, to stay with the quartet a little longer...
It's a musical journey that leaves deep traces, evokes powerful memories and opens up new territories. This quartet is on the road to recording its first album, "Song for my brother", which you can discover without delay.
Léo Jeannet: trumpet, flugelhorn
Hugo Rivière: double bass
Quentin Rondreux: drums
