Celebrating life and inviting us on a journey, the feverish soul jazz of Laurent Bardainne makes a triumphant return in "Hymne au Soleil" (Hymn to the Radiant Sun). The saxophonist, known for his work with Poni Hoax, takes us on a luminous adventure infused with African rhythms, soul, and hip-hop. Alongside his quartet - the renowned Tigre d'eau douce - guest voices punctuate the album with inspired appearances. Throughout the journey, the legacy of the great masters seems to watch over Laurent Bardainne's soaring and sun-drenched jazz, where the influences of Pharoah Sanders, Jimmy Smith, and John Coltrane can be recognized. Far from the troubles of the world, "Hymne au Soleil" exudes an infectious joy of life and stands as a remedy for gloominess!
