French-Algerian saxophonist Illyes Ferfera presents his Tawazûn project, in Arabic "balance", in a quartet that draws its roots from the musical traditions of North Africa, North American and Latin American jazz traditions, and French musical culture. Inspired by the traditional rhythms of his native Algeria, by the styles that cross North Africa from Moroccan Gnawa to Algerian Diwane, or by the Raï of the superb and much-lamented Cheikha Rimitti... the saxophonist adds his own personal jazz influences to his palette of compositions: Archie Shepp, Karim Ziad, Steve Coleman, Anouar Brahem, Miguel Zenon, Chris Cheek, and Guillermo Klein, as well as his roots in European and French culture, with influences ranging from Georges Brassens to singer/percussionist André́ Minvielle, with whom he has collaborated on numerous occasions.

Quite a program, then, guided by this quest for balance whether personal, aesthetic, or musical... The beginnings of an album in the making!

Created in 2012, the #JazzDeDemain slot has given rise to a series of monthly and bimonthly residencies, enabling young artists to experiment on stage, honing a repertoire, while presenting it to the public. A promising niche where creativity and emulsion know no bounds. #BeCurious!
