Inspired by the great classical jazz trios, as well as rhythm'n blues and Brazilian music, pianist Clément Simon's trio reinvents the exercise, mixing forms and colors, unexpected covers and subtle compositions. It's a flamboyant trio, supported by a group of musicians with whom they share a deep bond.
Equally at ease as a sideman or a leader, in a traditional trio or a quintet featuring his own compositions, Clément Simon has performed alongside Didier Lockwood, Pierre Perchaud, Marie-Claude Pietragalla and Raúl Paz.
Shaped as much by European art music as by African and Latin American music, his own style is the result of a wide range of influences (Ahmad Jamal, Keith Jarrett, Michel Camilo, Herbie Hancock, Brad Mehldau...), from classical to traditional music, via rhythm'n blues and film music, and is maturing into a unique jazz, made of lyricism and modernity.
