A tribute to the three jazz giants Lennie Tristano, Warne Marsh and Lee Konitz: this was the primary motivation behind the Lennie's quintet's decision to come together, around the incredible modernity and indelible swing of these three great musicians.
But how do you pay tribute to today's music without becoming a pale copy, while remaining faithful to the spirit of the music?
Lennie's attempt is to reappropriate this repertoire by integrating phases of improvisation, from the most acrobatic to the most open, as well as personal compositions and free time whose note or rhythm no one can predict.
Restoring jazz to its rightful place as a living music in constant motion, and at the same time so rich in history, means perpetuating a tradition without betraying the personality or sincerity of each musician at work in it.
