Born in Australia and in love with the City of Light, singer Mélissa Lesnie studied Musicology at the Sydney Conservatory before moving to France in 2013. She performs in the most renowned Parisian jazz clubs, including the Petit Journal, the dance hall of La Coupole (in big band), the Caveau de la Huchette, the Piano Vache, the Péniche Marcounet, as well as the jazz brunches of Bellevilloise, Poinçon and the Bois de Vincennes, or in hotels and restaurants such as Café de Paris, Hoxton, Serpent à Plume and Mère Cathérine. With her quartet The Dirty Dandies, Mélissa sang at the famous Saint-Ouen Flea Market on the occasion of the Flea Festival and the Music Festival. She regularly hosts swing balls at Place de la République and sings as a soloist with the big band Les Squat Cats. Mélissa had the honor of paying homage to Joséphine Baker in her former home in Vesinet during the Heritage Days, and again at the presentation of the high relief dedicated to her by the artist C215 for the town hall of the 13th arrondissement in Paris. In 2020 Mélissa signed her first album, in duet with Jean-Baptiste Franc, world champion of stride piano. She recorded a live album with guitarists Duved Dunayevsky, Nick Sansone and Jan de Jong. The singer works closely with JC Hopkins, a New York composer and producer who has worked with Norah Jones and Madeleine Peyroux, among others – Mélissa's fourth album is devoted to songs by Hopkins. With guitarist and sound engineer Victor Pitoiset (Le Ptit Rockeur), and with the support of the Les Paul Foundation in the United States, Mélissa records and films the songs of Les Paul and Mary Ford, having released a vinyl EP of their songs for the Records Freight / Rocking All Life Long label. His voice radiates in the songs of Cole Porter, Gershwin and throughout the repertoire of the Great American Songbook. Mélissa embodies Billie Holiday's heartfelt cries of blues as well as Ella Fitzgerald's joie de vivre. Whether she performs accompanied on the piano, vibraphone, accordion, guitar or big band, her singing goes straight to the hearts of her audience. Mélissa plays the theremin and teaches yoga in her spare time
