Between abrasive lyricism and heavy heart, bursts of madness and lapses from the East to the West, their dialogue magnifies this Ashkenazi repertoire and invites you to leave for Youkali, "the land where all worries are left behind.

Stéphane Tsapis and Jonathan Orland have one thing in common: they like to cross sound boundaries to free themselves from stylistic constraints and assert their own space of freedom. They thus create a dreamlike universe with varied landscapes, which evokes Chagall's paintings where joy and melancholy coexist without complex. The format of the duet allows a musical conversation sometimes intimate, sometimes unbridled, during which the listener is invited to let his imagination run free to travel, to glide and to dream... In "Youkali" published by Cristal in 2022, Stéphane Tsapis and Jonathan Orland are inspired by Yiddish music, Balkan music, avant-garde jazz from the 60s or pop music.
